Apart from length of service, what exactly does it mean?

Sup J's,
Mostly means you still do things from the past actually or believe in the old ways of doing things.
I'm curious to where all these old school members are from.....I don't hardly recognise anyone from this forum and we have been on most of the top industry forums for years.

that is weird 2 dman's ... wow..
old school i think is alot of us have integrity as well as business practice that are different than the norm out there now. people think that GFY and other boards you can actually do business on but i have tried and find nothing but pissing matches and people creating drama and not actually getting anything done. plus to me alot of the people that you meet on there are not owners or anyone that can make a trade. they just ask for your traffic with nothing in return. alot of the guys on here remember what a trade is and how to keep the deal up. just my 2 cents.

I don't think to many of us really real old schoolers ever thought GFY was a real industry board for real industry people. It's always been program kids talking about naked chicks...lmao

Personally I think old school just means lucky. Lucky enough to have been in the right place at the right time. Tons of old school players were charlatans and we all have a good idea who lots of them were.

I bought that over a year ago. No partners or hired help to tell me how to do things.
As you know I check out a lot of boards.
Ammasters never did quite get it. Then they wanted a war pension for what was left.
I thought you were a mainstreamer now doing rasstlin or something?

Yeah, funny thing is I have been Dman since late 1996 and early 1997....I have been to countless industry events myself, from Internext in Vegas and Hollywood, Florida to you name it. Have met countless industry people and done business with a lot of them for years.
There are also a hand full of members on this board already that know me and have for years as Dman in real life and other web boards.
My best friend and I usually rent a 5 or 6 bedroom luxery home for AVN and Internext in Vegas in January for a week where countless people come by and party and do content shoots with us. We have had people from Dan Camz to you name it come by the house every year.
My middle name is *Dwain* and when I first got into adult and the net back on the early 90's people I worked with started saying hey D-Man whats up....so it kinda stuck, but like you said it is all good.
I actually am working on a new moniker anyway, so I will see if I can get mine changed or just resign up for the board with a new name.
A LOT of people old schoolers know me and have for years as Dman, the only reason I am here is because someone I have seen on other boards for countless years thought you were me and dropped me a message asking if I was you.
Again, it's all good....it's just a name and I truthfully am in the process of dropping the Dman moniker anyway. So, not sweating it.

I've always thought of "old school" as the people who have been through the ups and downs of the industry, especially those who remember the first shows like IA2000 and the popularity of the newsgroups. Heck, even crappy scans of magazines sold as content back in the day :)

Old school, to me means we have experienced trial & errors through hard work, & innovations, something that the new kids might not have done because the old schoolers have paved that way for them. Taking the bumps, fighting the fights and doing biz with standards.
